April: Classes and Celebrations
April is Financial Literacy Month, which means it’s always really busy around Young Americans. We have so many fun and exciting ways to get involved at our building and to take the lessons home with you. Although everything is free, many of these events are first-come first-serve, so be sure to register with the links provided. As always, if you have any questions, put them in the comment section below so we can answer the questions for everyone to know.
See you in April!
Saturday, April 5th – Special Saturday Class
To celebrate Financial Literacy Month in April, Young Americans is hosting a special event to showcase our new bank branch on the Evie Dennis Campus in Far Northeast Denver.
Parents and kids, ages 3-8, are encouraged to attend this exciting event to participate in a bank tour, scavenger hunt, and play coin-themed games!
Saturday, April 12th – Second Saturdays Classes
Each month we host a unique learning experience for youth ages 3-8 and their parents. Families attending our Second Saturdays classes will be treated to an interactive tour of Young Americans Bank, the only bank in the world for young people. Then, students and parents will participate in games and activities that teach young people about the importance of money and banking — and how parents can reinforce those lessons at home.
Over the past weeks, the Youth Advisory Board members have hidden hundreds of coins and candy in plastic eggs throughout Young Americans. But they can’t remember where they put them all!
Come join us on Saturday, April 12 at 11:30am to help find the money hidden throughout Young AmeriTowne, International Towne, and Young Americans Bank. The best part? You get the keep all the coins and candy you find!
There will also be cupcakes and lemonade provided by our own young entrepreneurs, plus some fun financial activities like money bingo. Come early to the Second Saturday class at 10:30, then stay for the hunt that starts at noon.
10:30am – 11:30am – Free Second Saturdays classes for 3-5 year olds and 6-8 year olds
11:30am – Open a bank account, enjoy a cupcake and lemonade, and play a money game.
12:00 noon – The coin egg hunt begins!
Egg hunt participants must be under age 10, but the cupcakes and other activities are for anyone!
Saturday, April 19th – Money $ense Saturday
Students, ages 11-14, are invited to experience a day in the life of an adult by participating in Money $ense Saturday. Attendees at this event will not only learn how to create a budget, but they will also make purchases that simulate those made in real life.
